The Regulatory Commission of Alaska has approved a gas sales agreement allowing Anchor Point Energy to supply 10 billion cubic feet of natural gas to Enstar Natural Gas Co.

Anchor Point Energy has agreed to supply at least 1.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas annually to Enstar, with first gas expected to come on line as soon as 2011.

“Enstar is pleased to add a new, independent producer to its gas supply portfolio” Colleen Starring, president of Enstar, said in a press release.

Enstar will have to build a 20-mile pipeline to the North Fork gas field where Anchor Point Energy will supply the natural gas.

The contract also requires Anchor Point Energy to drill two more natural gas wells in the next four years. Enstar is expecting a 30 percent shortfall in supply starting in 2011. Gas from Anchor Energy would only cover about one-tenth of that shortfall.

Enstar says it continues to negotiate with other Cook Inlet producers to reach agreements that will ensure supplies of natural gas.
